I have to say that I tend to not always follow the news. I know as a intelligent person, at least I think I am, that I should be more involved in the world I’m living in. So when I was checking my email today I saw a video from the CBS News about a woman dying from trying to win a Nintendo Wii game system I was intrigued. So I did a little digging and this is what I found.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/01/14/national/main2358958.shtml?CMP=ILC-SearchStories

OMG I not sure what is worse, the fact that we are so obsessed about getting our children the latest and greatest toys and such available. I can see where the mother thought the contest would be harmless to her. I mean it is just drinking water, right.

I guess as a contest participant I would have expected the radio station to know all the risks and that they would have spelled them out for me. Since they are hosting it and offering up the prize they should have done their homework on what kind of effects the event would have on it’s contestants. My question though is who is really to blame? Is it the Lady who lost her life or the radio station? She signed a waiver I assume to participate but did it tell her of all the risks? And not to be sick, but I just wonder who won this contest, do they regret entering now knowing that she lost her life over a Wii? If I had one I don’t think I could ever use it if I won over her.

I guess that will be up to the Lawyers to figure out, in the meantime, however her family is without her and that is the saddest part of all.
