Thursday Thirteen #2

Posted by Jenn on January 18, 2007

Thirteen Things reasons why I Love EBooks!!I’ve been on quite an eBook reading binge thismonth so I thought now would be a good timeto talk about how great they are.

1. They are easily accessible, you can pretty much buy one at time.

2. They are easy to take with you.

3. They tend to be more risque, sometimes I just want my books a little hotter.

4. They come in all sizes, short little quickies (Thanks EC for the phrase) to full length novels.

5. They bring Paranormal to romance in a big way.

6. They tend to be cheaper than paperbacks.

7. They come in many different formats, PDF, LIT and HTML to mention just a few.

8. Back to the anytime part, they are instantly gratifying. A few clicks and it’s there on your computer. No waiting for a delivery man or running to the mall.

9. Some of my favorite Authors started in eBooks and now they are writing for big publishing houses.

10. They helped to open the eyes of big publishing houses and now we can get more steam in paperbacks as well now.

11. They help authors who may have no sold to a big NY publisher get their start.

12 Did I mention they are cheaper than paperbacks. If I did well trust me it bears repeating.

13. I can buy them while I am still in PJ’s, whether I am sick or well, bad weather or good, if I can get online I can buy a book.

All in all I will always read eBooks. Publishers Like Ellora’s Cave, Samhain and NCP to name a few will always get some of my book buying money. In a world with ever growing technology advancements eBooks give me the gratification I seek. Trust me I’m a woman who wants my books when I want them.

Woman Dies in Radio Station Contest

Posted by Jenn on January 18, 2007

I have to say that I tend to not always follow the news. I know as a intelligent person, at least I think I am, that I should be more involved in the world I’m living in. So when I was checking my email today I saw a video from the CBS News about a woman dying from trying to win a Nintendo Wii game system I was intrigued. So I did a little digging and this is what I found.

OMG I not sure what is worse, the fact that we are so obsessed about getting our children the latest and greatest toys and such available. I can see where the mother thought the contest would be harmless to her. I mean it is just drinking water, right.

I guess as a contest participant I would have expected the radio station to know all the risks and that they would have spelled them out for me. Since they are hosting it and offering up the prize they should have done their homework on what kind of effects the event would have on it’s contestants. My question though is who is really to blame? Is it the Lady who lost her life or the radio station? She signed a waiver I assume to participate but did it tell her of all the risks? And not to be sick, but I just wonder who won this contest, do they regret entering now knowing that she lost her life over a Wii? If I had one I don’t think I could ever use it if I won over her.

I guess that will be up to the Lawyers to figure out, in the meantime, however her family is without her and that is the saddest part of all.

Finally blogging made easy

Posted by Jenn on January 16, 2007

I tend to be a complete idiot when it comes to Editing HTML. So this blog has always been very neglected. Links were tough for me, to be honest the whole thing made me nervous, but this upgrade is pretty cool. Now I just have to find more thing to blog about.

Oh well for now I will play with this new format and then hopefully something exciting will happen to post about.

Plus I have to write up a few reviews of the books I read this month. Now if I could just get more hours in the day to do it all.
